František Kop, saxophonist
Franta Kop is one of the most distinctive Czech jazz saxophonists, known for his expressive tone, deep sense of improvisation, and decades-long presence on the European jazz scene.
Since the 1980s, he has collaborated with numerous renowned musicians including František Uhlíř, Emil Viklický, Milan Svoboda, and the Concept Art Orchestra. He is a long-standing member of several ensembles and has performed at major jazz festivals both in the Czech Republic and abroad. His discography includes numerous studio recordings, ranging from acoustic post-bop to contemporary original compositions.
Kop’s playing is marked by technical precision, musical sensitivity, and a poetic approach that resonates with audiences across generations. In addition to his performing career, he is active as a jazz educator and mentor for young musicians.
